SMC³ Contract Law Seminar to Provide Comprehensive Training in Contractual Elements
Atlanta, Ga. - March 12, 2008—One of the nation’s foremost transportation attorneys will share his expert knowledge of motor carrier contracts at the SMC³ 2008 Contract Law Seminar, which will take place Wednesday, May 21 at the Hilton Atlanta Airport hotel. Designed by SMC³, this seminar offers transportation professionals the most current information and best practices concerning transportation contract law.
SMC³ chose Robert M. Spira of Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP to lead this year’s Contract Law Seminar. Spira has been active in transportation and logistics law for more than 25 years, first as in-house counsel at a transportation and logistics service provider and later in private law practice. His experience in drafting and negotiating operating contracts includes domestic and international agreements for logistics services; motor carrier agreements; owner operator agreements; warehouse service agreements; and equipment leases for carriers, shippers, and transportation intermediaries. He also advises motor carriers, air carriers and ocean transportation intermediaries with respect to compliance with applicable laws and regulations in domestic and international transportation.
This year’s Contract Law Seminar includes sessions on laws governing transportation contracts, differences between shippers and service providers, key strategies for successful contract negotiations, and more.
“The information contained within this seminar is beneficial for anyone involved in preparing or executing transportation-related contracts,” said John Rader, director of industry and educational services for SMC³. “All perspectives are addressed so that representatives of carriers, shippers and logistics service providers all benefit.”
“This seminar has been invaluable to me. The comprehensive review of contract components and the importance of those components will enable me to more thoroughly and more intelligently review our contracts” commented Kristyna Guijo, pricing analyst for Roadrunner Dawes Freight Systems, Inc. following her experience at the Contract Law Seminar.
