SMC³ to Participate in CSCMP “Supply Chain of the Future”
Futuristic exhibit and education track showcases innovative supply chain technologies and processesAtlanta, Ga. – May. 12, 2010 Transportation pricing technology provider SMC³ today announced that it will be co-presenting a case study session at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) Supply Chain of the Future event, to be held in conjunction with the CSCMP Annual Global Conference 2010, Sept. 26-29 in San Diego.
The Supply Chain of the Future event consists of a futuristic exhibit as well as an education track. Within the education track, the best practices and future trends involved in the lifecycle of a product, from creation to consumption, will be explored. Powerful examples and engaging case studies will be presented that illustrate order capture and management, product design and development, sourcing and procurement, demand planning and inventory management, manufacturing and materials management, transportation, fulfillment, reverse logistics, and supply chain planning and execution.
SMC³ Sr. VP of Business Development Danny Slaton will be co-presenting the Sourcing and Procurement session of the education track, along with Paul Martyn, VP of Marketing, BravoSolution; Chris Timmer, Sr. VP of Business Development and Marketing, LeanLogistics; and Carey Skoglund, National Logistics Manager, Ace Hardware. In the session, Skoglund will present a real-world case study of the step-by-step process Ace Hardware applies for successful transportation procurement. A prime example of an expertly conducted bid event, Skoglund’s presentation will demonstrate how a series of small changes can achieve amazing results.
In addition to the case study presentation, leading sourcing and procurement experts will share their insights for optimizing supply chain cost and performance metrics. Long-time technology partners and TL/LTL procurement experts LeanLogistics and SMC³ will explain how shippers can reduce their overall transportation spend and create sustainable carrier relationships by better aligning demand with market capacity. BravoSolution, the world’s second-largest sourcing and spend analysis solution provider, will also be on hand, presenting ideas for successful supply management through greater choice and flexibility from sourcing partners. Attendees will leave this session armed with new ideas and choices for their transportation sourcing and procurement processes, which, once enacted, will improve their organization’s bottom line.
“Many supply chain management professionals are mystified by the whole process of transportation procurement,” said Slaton. “The tools of the trade are typically Excel spreadsheets and various hardcopy print-outs, and RFPs are often sent via email. This manual process is costly and open to error throughout. SCM professionals will want to attend this session to learn how they can make things easier on themselves and look like a hero in the process because they’ve saved their company time and money. “
