SMC³ Announces New “XL” Technology for Transportation Pricing
Service Oriented Architecture Offers Unmatched Rating Speed and Accuracy
Atlanta, Ga. - Feb. 14, 2008—Transportation pricing technology provider SMC³ today announced a new suite of technology it calls its “XL” suite. Indicative of speed, the XL label signifies a service oriented architecture (SOA) delivery system.
The new XL suite of technology revolutionizes the way SMC³ LTL pricing products are delivered to, and used by, the marketplace. All XL technology is accessed via the Web, with no software to install. What’s more, the SOA delivery model exponentially increases the speed at which shipment rating calculations perform.
“Today’s complex supply chains require ultimate flexibility in technology architectures, IT systems and integration capabilities,” said Warren Patterson, SMC³ Senior Vice President of Product Strategy and Development. “SMC³’s XL technology was designed to apply intelligent rating processes to supply chain management – all within the legacy and best-of-breed technology solutions our customers already have.”
RateWare® XL, the first SMC³ product to be delivered as part of the XL technology suite, is the fastest, most comprehensive rating and pricing solution of its kind. RateWare XL technology supports LTL, truckload and small package rates, as well as class and density pricing, with rating speeds of over 80,000 rate requests per second. Regardless of whether rating is used for transportation procurement, planning, management or settlement, RateWare XL utilizes SMC³ pricing science to deliver immediate, accurate results.
The XL version of SMC³ CarrierConnect™ combines complete carrier transit time and points of service information with leading-edge SOA technology and Web delivery systems to keep shippers on top of important carrier information. Day/time definite delivery calculations enable informed decisions in the planning of multiple shipment scenarios. The new XL technology also introduces a “shipment mode” feature, to support a broader range of carrier offerings both domestically and internationally.
“Now more than ever SMC³ is poised to fulfill the pricing needs of our members, customers and alliances,” said Jack E. Middleton, SMC³ president and CEO. “We will do this with breakthrough technology that addresses the industry’s demand for the fastest, most accurate solutions to their transportation pricing issues.”
RateWare XL is currently available to the marketplace and CarrierConnect XL is scheduled for a second quarter 2008 release. Other XL-related products will follow.
