Kevin D. Springer to Direct Sales Initiatives for SMC³ Pricing Technology

Atlanta, Ga. - July 1, 2008—Strengthening its role as the foremost provider of data, technology and education in the freight transportation community, SMC³ today announced the appointment of Kevin D. Springer as its director of sales. Effective immediately, Springer will oversee all SMC³ technology sales as well as head the SMC³ sales team.
In making the formal announcement, Danny Slaton, senior vice president of business development at SMC³, said, “Kevin brings with him several years of experience in the supply chain arena, with both carrier and 3PL assignments and sales of supply chain technology products. We look forward to his leadership of the SMC³ sales organization.”
Springer joins SMC³ from CargoWise edi, where he served as a regional manager responsible for sales and operations delivering IT and enterprise resources planning (ERP) solutions to the 3PL industry. “I am very glad to be a part of the SMC³ sales team, especially at this time of global expansion in the industry,” Springer said. “This is an ideal opportunity for me to leverage my 3PL and technology background to manage the dynamic sales team and future growth at SMC³.”
Springer holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Georgia State University and a master’s degree in leadership development from Brenau University. He started his transportation career on the docks at Carolina Freight, later joining Emery Worldwide, where he held positions in customer service and sales. He continued his career at Eagle Global Logistics as an area sales manager responsible for annual sales approaching $40 million. Following graduate school, Springer entered the supply chain technology industry, holding management positions at Descartes Systems Group prior to joining CargoWise edi.
