About the System
CzarLite CanadaCross-Border Online is a Web application that interfaces a corporate internet site to SMC³ CzarLite. Accessorial Charge
This feature allows you to adjust the net charge by adding in a specified amount. When Rate Shipment is pressed the amount of the Accessorial Charge entered on the Entry page will be added to the Net Charge and will appear on the Response page. To enable click on the Accessorial Prompt check box on the Options page.

Help Menu

Apply to Charge and Apply to Rate
This item on the Option Page allows you to toggle between discounting Rates or Charges. The default setting is "Charges".

When you discount the Charges, the system multiplies the weight of the shipment by the actual rate to get a Gross Charge. It then multiplies the Gross Charge by the discount percentage to get a discount amount, then subtracts that amount from the Gross Charge to obtain a Net Charge. The system shows you the dollar amounts for the Gross Charge, the Discount Amount, and the Net Charge on screen.

When you discount Rates, the system multiplies the base rate by the discount percentage to obtain a Discounted Rate. The system multiplies the weight of the shipment by the discounted rate to obtain the Net Charge. The system does not show the discount percentage - it only shows the discounted rate itself and uses it to calculate the Net Charge.

In certain circumstances, the same shipment can have slightly different Net Charges depending on whether you discount the Rates or the Charges. This minor discrepancy comes from differences in rounding, and it should never end up with a difference of more than a penny or two.
